Facial Fillers: Restylane, Sculptra, Radiesse

Facial fillers counteract the skin volume loss that happens as we age and have almost singlehandedly deleted the need for facial implants. Nowadays, almost everyone prefers to use facial fillers as a more natural way to turn back the clock.

Facial Fillers Before and After

Each type of filler – restylane, sculptra, radiesse, and… (we could go on but won’t bore you!) – produces different results. Some stimulate natural collagen formation; others are used exclusively to volumize, producing a tightening and lifting effect.

Under the Clouds Dental Spa typically recommends admixtures of formulae specifically designed to achieve the results you want.

Facial Filler Brands: Restylane, Sculptra, and Radiesse

All facial fillers work to restore tissue volume loss and help to resculpt the face, hydrate, and lift facial structures and skin, but different types perform different tasks.

If you are geeks like we are here at Under the Clouds, then you will appreciate some of these details.

How do facial fillers work?

The face loses tissue at a rate of approximately 1% and up to 4% per year.

While this does not sound like much, multiply that by 40 or 60 and you can see the impact!

Fillers re-volumize the face to restore the natural tissues that were lost, with incredible results.

Hyaluronic acid based filler (Ie. Restylane, Juviderm, Belotero)

The active ingredient in Restylane is hyaluronic acid. A natural chemical in your body, restylane appears like a clear gel and is what we call a humectant. This means it attracts water. In addition to adding its own volume, restylane and other hyaluronic acids hydrate your skin, creating a warm, youthful glow.

Hydroxylapatite based fillers (Ie. Radiesse)

The active ingredient in Radiesse is hydroxylapatite. A longer-lasting agent, Radiesse is ideal for more moderate fills because it can produce exceptional smoothness in the skin by stimulating collagen formation, reabsorbing into the body naturally after 6 months.

Polylactic Acid fillers (Ie. Sculptra)

Sculptra is a Polylactic Acid and a remarkable material that provides a mild filling effect in the near-term but powerfully stimulates new collagen formation, adding significant tightening and firming with time.

Due to the nature of the filler, it takes longer than dermal fillers to show results. However, maintenance treatment may only be needed once per year and patients experience longer lasting results (two to four years).

The right facial filler melange is determined in a one-on-one consultation. Make an appointment to discover what facial filler treatments are perfect for you!
